Here is a quick tutorial on using fs.watchFile and fs.readFile in node.js. This will listen or “watch” for file changes on the server and then spit the contents of the file out to the console. However once you get a handle to the data you can do something more useful with it. Let’s check it out.
SO! ever wanted to put a custom webfont on you’re web page? Well… you’re in luck with a simple css tag called @font-face. This tag isn’t new. It even supported in IE 5. I don’t think it was wildly adopted because either people didn’t know it existed or fonts were too heavy for the connections at the time. I think it’s a little of both. Continue reading
Microsoft launched Internet Explorer 9 not too long ago. With that launch if you have Windows Vista or above, you have this neat functionality called “Pinning”. Basically a user can take your site, pin it to the Windows tool bar and it creates what they call a “jump list”.
Internet Explorer has problems! IE6, IE7, IE8 and IE9 render stuff differently and here are some hacks to help you get around all of the crap Microsoft makes us go through. BOOOOO! Continue reading
